Description :
This system is designed by sunshine for demonstrating primarily take off, landing and cruise of aircraft in a wind tunnel. The system is designed to operate in a 600 × 600 mm wind tunnel for students. This also provides measurement of variation of lift with angle of attack.
Description of the set up:
The air craft model is simple light weight model weighing about 700 grams. Schematic sketch is given in figure1. It has a wing chord of 120mm and a span of 540mm. The tail is 60mm chord and 300mm span. The tail can be rotated using a servo motor controller remotely from a joystick using a wireless radio control system.
The aircraft is designed to lift off around 20 m/sec wind.
The aircraft has freedom to move up and down a vertical axis when mounted. It can also pitch around the quarter chord point. Measurement of pitch angle, tail setting angle can be carried out by measuring the appropriate pot positions.
